Shea’d (pronounced “shade”) was built with one goal in mind: to make it remarkably simple to connect with Black-owned brands and businesses. We achieve our mission by elevating Black creativity, emphasizing inclusion, and underpinning Black economic empowerment. Join us in using your buying power for good.
Shea’d first took off as a directory to bridge the gap of connectivity in the local Black community in the Bay Area. Less than after a year of launching, we had 3,000+ iOS downloads with a 4.8 rating, a growing audience of over 2K+ on social media and 200+ engaged newsletter subscribers. After winning the Pharrell Williams Black Ambition Prize, Shea’d has developed into a free browser extension that helps consumers find Black-owned products that meets their wants and needs.
Behind the screens, we continue to evolve as an all-minority, powerhouse team of five- including alumni from Spelman, Stanford University, Morehouse and Georgia Tech. From our college classrooms to the world’s largest tech companies, our team has trailblazing experience across companies like Twitter, Capital One, Apple, Google, and Pinterest.
